Cosmetic Services
Bay Area Dermatology offers a variety of cosmetic services as outlined below. A consultation is required prior to all procedures to assess appropriateness, risks, and benefits of any procedure.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine, approved by the FDA, which is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults. One short treatment relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkle lines and keeps them relaxed up to 4 months. Most people return to work or normal activity following treatment.
FILLERS - Fillers are various substances that are injected into the skin to add volume or to "fill in" wrinkles. Currently Bay Area Dermatology is using Cosmoderm and Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra with lidocaine.
JUVÉDERM® is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds). The JUVÉDERM® family of dermal fillers results in a smooth-consistency gel that flows; easily into the skin and creates a natural look. It is the only hyaluronic acid (HA) filler FDA approved+ to last up to 1 year with initial treatment. Allergan, Inc. - Source
COSMODERM is a human derived collagen that can be injected in the more superficial dermis and is very good for smoothing out lip lines and enhancing the lips.
CHEMICAL PEELS are done to improve lines and skin discoloration. We are using superficial (glycolic) and medium depth (TCA) peels.
SCLEROTHERAPY is an office procedure for treatment of varicose veins, "spider or starburst veins". During sclerotherapy treatment, the dermatologist injects a solution called a sclerosant directly into the targeted vein with a fine needle. This causes the vein to clot and then slowly disappear. This procedure is done only to superficial veins which are not necessary for normal circulatory function.
LATISSE® (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% is the first and only prescription treatment approved by the FDA for inadequate eyelashes. The bimatoprost prolongs the growth phase of the eyelash hairs allowing them to grow in longer, fuller, and darker. Patients with glaucoma or other eye diseases should consult an ophthalmologist before using LATISSE. Allergan, Inc. - Source
VANIQA is a prescription medication to slow down the growth of unwanted facial hair.
